Description

At the foot of the Himalayas, Chitwan is one of the few remaining undisturbed vestiges of the ‘Terai’ region, which formerly extended over the foothills of India and Nepal. It has a particularly rich flora and fauna. One of the last populations of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros lives in the park, which is also one of the last refuges of the Bengal tiger.

Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. You can explore thousands of years of culture here, while making your way through historic temples and monasteries that belong to Hindus and Buddhists alike.

The city stands at an elevation of approximately 1,400 metres (4,600 ft) in the bowl-shaped Kathmandu Valley of central Nepal. It is surrounded by four major mountains: Shivapuri, Phulchoki, Nagarjun, and Chandragiri. Kathmandu Valley is part of three districts (Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur), has the highest population density in the country, and is home to about a twelfth of Nepal’s population.

Pokhara is the second most visited city in Nepal, as well as one of the most popular tourist destinations. It is famous for its tranquil atmosphere and the beautiful surrounding countryside. Pokhara lies on the shores of Phewa Lake. From Pokhara, you can see three out of the ten highest mountains in the world (Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Manasalu). The Machhapuchre (“Fishtail”) has become the icon of the city, thanks to its pointed peak.
